The Senior Director of Analytics will shape and drive the strategic direction of our data architecture, business intelligence (BI), and data science functions. This senior leadership role will spearhead the development of data-driven insights, enabling strategic decision-making, operational efficiency, and business performance enhancements across our global organization. The Senior Director will align data initiatives with broader company goals and partner with senior executives, business units, and analytics teams to leverage data across wholesale, retail, and eCommerce channels.
This position reports to the Head of IT & Business Analytics and is based out of one of our Platform locations (San Diego, Irvine, Bozeman or Logan) or Providence, RI.
As the Sr. Director of Analytics, you will have an opportunity to:
Data Strategy and Leadership:
- Develop and drive the company's analytics vision, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives across our global operations. This includes assisting business leaders to develop their own internal strategies and staff development programs.
- Set the strategic direction for data architecture, business intelligence, and data science, implementing company-wide policies and best practices via governance programs to drive greater partnership and participation.
- Own the end-to-end data lifecycle, from data ingestion and storage to analytics and insights generation.
- Lead the Analytics Governance program, a newly established function operating as a federated model that integrates insights across lines of business.
- Provide strategic input to executive management, consistently partnering across the business to navigate a dynamic, cross-functional environment. It will be essential here to balance the tactical requirements of the businesses against the strategic goals of the entire organization.
Business Intelligence (BI) & Data Science:
- Guide the design and implementation of BI tools and dashboards that empower data-driven decision-making across all functional areas (sales, marketing, supply chain, finance, etc.).
- Oversee advanced data science initiatives, including predictive modeling, machine learning, and AI projects, to generate actionable insights.
- Establish policies to ensure consistent data quality, governance, and compliance across all analytics platforms.
- Coach and guide teams on best practices to drive the company’s analytics capabilities and standards.
Data Architecture and Engineering:
- Architect a data infrastructure that enables seamless data flow and accessibility across global systems and regions. This will include partnering and participating in internal IT discussions to influence business application implementations to ensure a tight integration between business applications and analytics.
- Partner with business unit leaders to understand and integrate their unique data needs within the larger data framework, fostering partnerships that maximize data value.
- Implement data management frameworks, ensuring data availability, security, and reliability across systems.
Strategic Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to corporate and divisional leaders, aligning analytics solutions with business priorities and translating complex data insights into actionable strategies.
- Build and lead a high-performing analytics team, including data architects, BI analysts, data scientists, and engineers, in delivering on strategic objectives.
- Act as a key partner in initiatives spanning marketing, finance, operations, and product development, ensuring cross-functional alignment on analytics-driven goals.
Technology and Innovation:
- Stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying innovative opportunities that deliver competitive advantages in analytics.
- Champion continuous improvement, leveraging cloud platforms, automation, and advanced analytics to enhance capabilities.
- Sponsor the annual “moon shot” competition to propel the business towards achieving its strategic vision through data insights and foster greater collaboration.
You have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years in analytics, data architecture, BI, and data science roles, with a proven track record in leading analytics teams in a multinational environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of consumer packaged goods (CPG) and omnichannel business models (wholesale, retail, eCommerce).
- Expertise in data architecture design, data lakes, and cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), and data science frameworks (Python, R).
- Demonstrated ability to influence policy, engage with executive leadership, and shape company-wide strategy. Skilled in communicating complex technical topics in accessible language for diverse stakeholders.
